🟣偃月橋 (えんげつきょう)
Engetsukyo Bridge, symbol of Ritsurin Garden
Ritsurin-koen garden, Takamatsu, Japan. The Crescent Moon Bridge (Engetsu-kyo)
楓岸を抜けまっすぐ進むと、園内で最も大きな橋「偃月橋（えんげつきょう）」が見えます。弓張り月(半月)が湖面に影を映す姿から名付けられた、美しい反りが特徴の橋です。
●Engetsukyo / Crescent Moon Bridge This is the biggest wooden bridge in this garden. Its name derives from the imagery of a crescent moon reflected on a pond’s surface.
●This is the Engetsukyo bridge, which literally means The Crescent Moon Bridge. This bridge is the biggest one in Ritsurin garden.
The name of this engetsukyo bridge comes from the arched shape of the crescent moon reflected on the pond.
This bridge is characterized by the beautiful arched shape.
🟣吹上 (ふきあげ)

吹上からの美しい湧水が、生き物たちの命を育む。
吹上（ふきあげ）→ 広大な池の水源地
●栗林公園のある場所は、もともと河川の河床だったことから伏流水が多く、その水は枯れたことがありません。かつては「吹上」からの湧水で池の水をすべて賄っていましたが、現在では南側の2つの井戸から水を汲み上げています。
●偃月橋のすぐそばに吹上亭（ふきあげてい）があり、その裏のあたりに「吹上（ふきあげ）」と呼ばれる、栗林公園の水源地があります。
かつてはその名のとおり湧水があったのですが、現在は、南側の２つの井戸から水を汲み上げており、園内の池の水をすべてここでまかなっています。
●Fukiage / Water Spout This spot is the garden’ s water source. Since Ritsurin Garden used to be a riverbed 400 years ago, there is a lot of underground water and this particular water source never dries up.
23 Hiraiho This tall landscaped hill located at the east end of the South Pond has been sculpted to resemble Mt. Fuji. It commands one of the finest views in this garden. [Cover photo]
24 Korihe-e Kuju no To This nine-story pagoda was made by Kita Rihee, a ceramicist who was invited by the first Takamatsu feudal lord from Kyoto in the 17th century.
25 Kobusha During the feudal era, this wide lawn area was used for such things as training in horsemanship and archery.
26 Fuyo-ho From the top of this hill, you can enjoy the beautiful view of the North Pond, with Mt. Shiun in the background, two small islands to right and left, and the red Bairinkyo Bridge in the middle.
Fuyo-sho / Lotus Pond During the summer, about 1,000 lotuses can be seen in bloom covering the pond’s surface.

One of the garden’s best views can be enjoyed from the top of this tall landscaped hill that was made to resemble Mt. Fuji. The view facing Nanko Pond, Kikugetsu-tei Teahouse, and Engetsukyo Bridge with Mt. Shuin in the backdrop is famously beautiful and one of the highlights of Ritsurin Garden.
●栗林公園を代表する景観
富士山に見立てて造られたといわれる築山「飛来峰」は、園内随一のビューポイント。山頂近くにある珪化木（けいかぼく）の石組みは、山が崩れるのを防ぐとともに、富士山の雪を表したものではないかといわれています。山頂から見下ろす偃月橋や、紫雲山を背景に南湖の西に配された掬月亭を望む眺めは、栗林公園を代表する景観です。
吹上のすぐ近くに、「飛来峰（ひらいほう）」と呼ばれる高台があります。富士山に似せてつくったとされる築山で、絵葉書やパンフレットに栗林公園が載るときは、この飛来峰の頂上からの写真が多く載っています。ここから南湖方向を見ると紫雲山を背景に、掬月亭、手前には偃月橋と、まさに圧巻の景色が広がります。
🟣芙蓉峰 (ふようほう)
飛来峰から北へ、出口のほうに向かう途中にある築山は、「芙蓉峰（ふようほう）」と呼ばれています。芙蓉峰から北湖を望むと、紅の橋である「梅林橋（ばいりんきょう）」が印象的です。全体的には明るく開放感のある景観になっています。

27 Fuyo-sho / Lotus Pond During the summer, about 1,000 lotuses can be seen in bloom covering the pond’s surface.
28 Gun’o-chi At 7,930 m2, this is the largest pond in the whole garden and was used for hunting ducks during the feudal era.
29 Hanashobu-en / Iris Garden Built in 1970, there are around 4,000 irises grown in this garden. You can see the flowers blooming from the end of May until the middle of June.
30 Kamoba The North Garden used to be the grounds for the feudal lord to hunt ducks. These duck hunting facilities were restored in 1993 and exist today as the largest duck hunting ground in Japan.
